Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop, which is mounted 10 feet (3.05 meters) above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop at each end. Points are scored by making field goals, which count for two or three points depending on the distance from which the shot is taken, and free throws, which are awarded after certain fouls.

Basketball emphasizes skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive tactics. The game originated in the late 19th century and has grown to become one of the most popular sports globally, with various leagues and competitions, including the NBA (National Basketball Association) in the United States. The essence of basketball lies in teamwork, strategy, and athleticism, making it an engaging and dynamic sport.
